<hi style=afpcap>Flaps down, gear down, this Rockwell B-1B Lancer of the 7th Wing is making a low-level pass over Dyess AFB near Abilene, Texas. The 7th Wing is one of the oldest combat establishments in the Air Force, dating to September 1918: in the 1930s, in leather helmets and flying scarfs, its pilots flew Martin B-10s and B-12s. The 7th was flying B-17E Flying Fortresses and LB-30 Liberators when the Japanese advance pushed Americans off Java in 1942. B-24, B-29, B-36, and B-52 are part of the history of the 7th Wing, which today also operates the C-130H Hercules.</hi>
